Wendy reads Don't Lick the Dog and introduces good dog manners. With drawings, photos, puppets, stuffed dogs, and – on occasion and when pre-approved – real live Delta Society therapy dogs, Wendy shows the basics of how to meet new dogs safely. Children are encouraged to interact during the reading by calling out answers and imitating gestures and movements that are soothing to dogs. Special attention is devoted to kids who are afraid of dogs.
For kids 6 and up, a second slideshow shows samples of Wendy's artwork from kindergarten to professional illustrator. This includes a brief segment on the importance of doodling (daydreaming with a pencil), photos of her pets, and upcoming books.
All visits include drawing with the kids and Q&A.
